UFCT Elections: Nominations Deadline December 8, 2010, 5PM
Dear UFCT Dues Paying Member:
The date for the return of the nominations ballot for UFCT elections was this past Monday, November 29th.
However, this deadline has been extended to next Wednesday, December 8th, as it appears a number of members did not receive their ballot by postal mail (including yours truly). Why? I do not know. I have checked with the post office and there doesn’t seem to have been a problem as some six-hundred ballots were indeed sent over two weeks ago.
[Please email Kye at email@example.com for an electronic ballot, if you have not received one by snail mail, or call the Union office at 718-636-3614].
NOMINATIONS REQUESTED TO FILL THE OFFICES OF:
PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, SECRETARY AND TREASURER
OF THE UFCT LOCAL 1460, AFL-CIO,
Dear Faculty Union Member:
This letter is to inform you of the procedure for Nominations to begin the process of holding elections for UFCT President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The current term will expire on December 31, 2010. You are not obligated to submit a nomination for all four positions.
The Nominations and Elections Committee would like to receive nominations of UFCT members in good standing (no arrears of union dues) for these offices. [Agency payers are ineligible to vote or to have their names nominated for office.] Nominators can nominate themselves as well as others. The deadline for receiving nominations in the UFCT office (125 North Hall) is: Wednesday, December 8, 2010, 5:00 pm.
Nominators must secure consent from the member being nominated and must include a telephone number, fax and/or email where the nominee can be reached for verification. Nominations that do not contain clear contact information will be disqualified.
On Wednesday, December 8, 2010, the Elections Committee will begin reviewing the list of nominees; verifying their status with the Union and their willingness to serve if elected. After reviewing the nominations, the Nominations and Elections Committee will prepare ballots in accordance with NYSUT rules. At that time, Final Nominees will be asked to submit a half-page statement with respect to their qualifications and beliefs regarding the office they are seeking. Soon thereafter, rules for balloting and ballots will be mailed to union members after receiving all materials from the candidates.
Please follow these steps in order to ensure that your nominations are received:
