Salary, Benefits and Rights for Faculty
Grievance Committee

The UFCT grievance committee works on behalf of all faculty (regardless of whether they are union members) who can substantiate that their contractual rights have been violated by the Pratt administration. The UFCT grievance committee is the only entity that can negotiate with Pratt’s administration to resolve grievances; when necessary the grievance committee can also bring grievances to arbitration.

Audrey LM Lindsey, UFCT 1460 Vice President, Visiting Instructor, Math & Science - vp@ufct1460.org

Hello, my name is Audrey L.M. Lindsey, and I am VP of UFCT 1460. I love my work as a Visiting Instructor in the Pratt Math & Science Department, where I have the joy of helping artists and designers integrate more scientific ideas and thinking into their creative work. While I love this work, our union needs to grow stronger to ensure faculty like me can make a healthy living. Our collective bargaining agreement outlines many measures to help. But, as we saw with Pratt’s attempt to cut health benefits that we only stymied through public protest, management only adheres to our contract under the threat of a collective response. I bring experience from restarting our UFCT 1460 Delegates Assembly, where we fight to end unpaid work and promote pay transparency. I was also a founding officer of the Grad Labor Union at Brown University, where I helped save a lab worker’s job by pairing a grievance with a viral online petition, and used public testimonials during COVID-19 to win PPE improvements, regular testing of on-campus workers, and TA choice to teach online. Integrating organizing into our grievances means more victories, which means better working conditions.

Will McLoughlin, Adjunct Associate Professor, Interior Design - will.mcloughlin@ufct1460.org
Hi, I'm Will McLoughlin. I’m an Adjunct Associate Professor in Interior Design and have been part of the Pratt community since 2015. Over the years, I’ve served on departmental peer review, curriculum, and search committees, and in my professional practice I’ve managed project contracts. These experiences have shaped how I think about rules and process. Not as abstract policies, but as tools that should be clearly understood, communicated, and applied in ways that lead to fair outcomes.
That perspective guides my work in supporting colleagues on the Grievance Committee. I believe that when the Collective Bargaining Agreement is upheld transparently and consistently, we build a more equitable Pratt, one where faculty feel secure, supported, and respected in their work.
Chris Jensen, Full-time Professor, Math & Science - chris.jensen@ufct1460.org
Hello, my name is Chris Jensen and I have been working in Pratt’s Department of Math & Science since 2007, predominantly teaching General Education courses focused on ecology, evolution, and sustainability. During my time at Pratt I have gotten to see the place from a lot of angles: not just as a teacher but also as a member of various academic committees, as the rare faculty member on the Title IX Council, as a collaborative educational researcher, and even as acting chair of my department. What’s become clear to me is that the Pratt student experience is largely shaped by “on the ground interactions” — most obviously with the faculty who provide educational experiences, but also with the academic and non-academic staff who support our students — but that it is too easy for our upper administration to lose track of the rights and needs of the faculty and staff who create this student experience. As a member of the Grievance Committee I intend to work tirelessly to assure that the rights of our faculty under the Collective Bargaining Agreement are fully honored so that each and every one of us can best serve the educational needs of our students.
